Emergency Dental Services

When you’re having a dental emergency, the last thing you want to do is wait for an open appointment. At EastonBright Smiles, we will make ourselves available for such emergencies so that we can get you in as quickly as possible, usually on the same day. We also offer after-hours contact for established patients, so you’re never without dental help when you need it.

At Easton Bright Smiles, we believe that a great smile starts with a strong set of teeth and healthy gums! We encourage all our new patients to have a full mouth examination in their first visit and regular active maintenance after that to reduce the need for major dental work. This will make sure that we diagnose and treat minor problems before they become major ones!

During your appointment, we will provide you with a complete overview of your current state of your oral health. A full scale and polish of your teeth and gum will also be performed. If any further treatment is required, you will be provided with all necessary information and treatment options. You can then make an informed decision regarding any treatment that you may choose to have.

Part of the cleaning and prevention plan is taking dental digital X-rays. We use the latest dental X-ray technology known as digital radiography. This technology uses an electronic sensor to capture and store digital images of your teeth. The process of taking digital X-rays is faster and more comfortable than taking X-ray film, and it reduces radiation exposure by significant amounts. Additionally, we have the latest Panoramic X-ray equipment which creates wraparound photographs of the face and teeth. They offer a view that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. X-rays in general, expose hidden structures, such as wisdom teeth, reveal preliminary signs of cavities, and also show fractures and bone loss. Panoramic X-rays are extraoral and simple to perform. Usually, dental X-rays involve the film being placed inside the mouth, but panoramic film is hidden inside a mechanism that rotates around the outside of the head. Because the digital images can be viewed instantly, we will be able to detect and diagnose any abnormalities and developing problems at a faster and more efficient rate. It is important to have dental X-rays taken of your teeth regularly to prevent discomfort, pain, and permanent damage to your mouth. Even though digital radiography is significantly safer than traditional X-ray film, we still take all of the necessary precautions to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation. Your health and safety are of the utmost importance to us. The frequency and need for X-rays are based on medical and dental history, a dental exam, signs and symptoms, your age, and risk for disease. Although a full X-ray of your top and bottom teeth are taken once or twice a year, new X-rays may be needed if any dental problems arise.

Root canals are tiny channels within your tooth that may become infected due to extensive cavity. These canals contain the dental pulp that is made out of nerves and blood vessels. When your root canals are infected, the pulp inside your tooth will get infected as well. Root canal treatment is a procedure to remove the infection. The canals are cleaned and then filled during the treatment, and the tooth will then get a filling or crown once there is no further sign of infection. Depending on the number of teeth and the extent of cavity, root canal treatments usually require one to three visits. Each procedure is unique to the individual, but will generally follow the following steps:
  • An opening will be created in the crown of the tooth
  • Pulp is then removed from the root canal
  • fter the infected area is cleaned and adequately shaped, the canals will then be filled and sealed with a temporary filling
  • Once there is no further sign of infection, the temporary filling will be replaced with a more permanent restoration – such as a dental crown to strengthen the tooth.
A root canal treatment is an alternative to extraction when a tooth is extensively infected. It allows you to keep your natural tooth, so that you can avoid further problems because of missing teeth.

The most common reason for an extraction is tooth damage due to breakage or decay. At Easton Bright Smiles, we do all that we can to preserve your teeth, but there might come a time when extraction is the only option.

We endeavor to be as gentle as possible to ensure minimal pain and discomfort. Our team will provide you with post-surgery instructions as well so that you are well informed of the care that needs to be taken after your tooth has been extracted.

Dental sealants are an effective way to protect the teeth and prevent decay. Dental sealants for kids are especially recommended. Most decay occurs on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth because these molars typically have deep grooves and pits that trap food and bacteria. Trapped food is often the culprit in causing cavities on teeth. Applying sealants for teeth will help prevent cavities.

Sealants are easy to apply and take only a few minutes for each tooth. After a thorough cleaning, the tooth sealant is painted, much like nail polish, onto each tooth where it hardens in 60 seconds.

Having dental sealants does not replace brushing, flossing or rinsing with fluoride; tooth sealants simply help aid in the fight against teeth cavities. They are strongly recommended in both children and adults. Sealants are quite manageable in cost and, as always, Easton Bright Smiles will discuss every option with you before moving forward with any preventative dental care.

At Easton Bright Smiles, composite fillings are our restoration of choice because of their excellent natural appearance and strength. Because the shade and color of the composite fillings can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth, they will provide the most aesthetically pleasing result. The fact that they chemically bond to tooth structure means that they are much stronger too.

We use the latest technology combined with artistic flair to craft fillings that make your teeth look brand new – you might even have trouble seeing where they are!

Composite fillings can also be an option for chipped and broken teeth. A composite veneer is very similar to the porcelain veneer and functions much the same the way. They are generally considered as short term to medium term restorations in comparison to porcelain veneers.

Teeth discoloration can be caused by staining, aging, stains from food, coffee and cigarettes. Teeth whitening is a popular and affordable way to brighten your smile. With today’s modern dental techniques, we are able to offer you whiter brighter smile at ease with the latest products available.

We offer two options for teeth whitening — in-office whitening that is completed in about 90 minutes or take-home kits that you can use daily to whiten your smile.

Using a tooth mousse (a concentrated mineral conditioner for your teeth) after you have whitened your teeth will make them stronger and more resistant to stains and decay. AM I A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR TEETH WHITENING?

Crowns

Dental crowns are typically considered for teeth that have already been weakened considerably by tooth decay, large fillings or root canal treatment. A crown is a porcelain or gold cover that goes over your tooth to rebuild and strengthen a weak or broken tooth. It is also used to improve smile by changing the shape and color of your existing teeth. Over the years, our teeth are weakened by decay and the process of filling them. Experience tells us that with time any tooth that is heavily filled is at high risk of breaking. Fillings are not the best solution when the tooth structure is weak. Crowning the tooth will give it the strength that it needs.,/ Putting a dental crown on a tooth requires 2 separate appointments. In the first appointment, the dentist will shape and adjust the tooth to allow enough space for a crown. An impression is also taken of the tooth, and then sent to an external dental lab so that the crown can be professionally fabricated. A temporary crown is then placed onto your tooth to protect it. On your second appointment (usually after 2 weeks), your new crown will be cemented and ready to be used straightaway. At Easton Bright Smiles, our focus on restorative dentistry with knowledge and experience in occlusion ensures that the crown is the exact shape and color required. Having a dental crown fitted can significantly improve the aesthetic appearance of your teeth by covering misshaped or badly discolored teeth. You will be able to smile with confidence again, knowing that we have taken great care to the selection and quality of the restoration.

BRIDGE

A bridge is a solution for missing tooth or teeth. It uses crowns on the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between to cover the gap. Gap left by missing teeth can cause the teeth on either side to shift, compromising bite. Restoring the gap is a very effective way to improve your appearance and function of your teeth such as eating and speech. A bridge can offer several benefits —
  • Restore your natural smile
  • Improve the function of your teeth i.e. ability to properly speak and chew
  • Distribute the forces in your bite properly
  • Help to maintain the shape of your face
  • Prevent your remaining teeth from shifting??
The procedure of a dental bridge is very similar to that of a dental crown. It will take two appointments. In your first visit, the teeth adjacent to the gap are shaped to allow room for a crown to be placed over them. Impressions of your teeth are then made and sent to the dental lab for your bridge to be made. We will then make a temporary bridge for you to wear to protect the exposed teeth and gums. During your second visit, your temporary bridge will be removed and the new permanent one will be checked and adjusted, as necessary, to achieve a proper fit. The bridge is then cemented into place.

VENEERS

Veneers can bring back the sparkle in your smile and give you the confidence that you need to smile again! They are thin, hand crafted porcelain shells that are placed over your front teeth to strengthen the teeth and enhance your smile. Porcelain veneers have the ability to change the shape, colour and alignment of teeth, and are arguably the most aesthetic, strongest, longest lasting and most conservative restoration that we can place on a tooth. Porcelain veneers require minimal tooth cutting and are therefore more conservative than crowns. With proper care, veneers can often last a long time. At Easton Bright Smiles, we take great care not only in ensuring your smile looks good, but also your bite is stable. This is the key factor to make sure that the porcelain veneers placed will last for a long time. If your teeth are chipped, crooked, oddly shaped or have small gap between them, veneers will be able to resolve such irregularities and strengthen those teeth. The team at Easton Bright Smiles has the experience and knowledge to help you enhance your smile.
